Before you read about our experience and how I lost 20 pounds in 3 months ask yourself these questions:
- Do you wish to be healthier?
- Do you wish to look better in your clothes?
- Are you looking to feel better?
- Do you wish to sleep better?
- Do you wish you had more energy?
- And do you wish to lose a few pounds?
Of course, you do and we did also. And we can now answer Done to all those questions.
This is my story of how I lost weight:
All successful people who lose weight start with a plan and never lose focus on that objective. So don’t go blindly, grab a pencil and paper and let’s get started.
Our First Steps to how I lost 20 pounds in 3 months:
- Knowledge is Power- Make a Plan and Educate yourself on the plan and know what you can and what you can’t put in your mouth using guidelines in this guide
- Gather together your exercise equipment: Yes, we all have exercise equipment. Dumbbells, jump rope, bicycle, etc. You don’t need a high-dollar home gym or gym membership.
- Throw out or donate all junk food in your house. It’s not waste, it will just put more on your hips that you will just have to work off later, get rid of it now because either way, you will have to get rid of it.
We chose Whole 30 as our Plan:
What is the Whole 30 Plan
The whole 30 plan is a clean eating plan where one removes all the foods that might have a negative impact on one’s health. Such as sugar, alcohol, dairy, legumes, and grains. At first, I balked, “I’m not giving up cheese” I said. Well just ask yourself, how many times have you really tasted all that cheese on your hamburger, topped on Mexican food or pilled onto a salad? Try to enjoy any of those foods without cheese and just see if you miss it or is it just a habit. I vote habit.
What you can eat on the Whole 30 plan
- Vegetables even potatoes and avocados
- Fruit
- Meat like Beef
- Fish
- Chicken
- Fats
What you can’t eat on the Whole 30 plan:
- No sugar no sweeteners, no artificial nor natural
- No alcohol, not even wine
- Not grains not even whole grains
- No Dairy
- No Soy
- Not legumes such as peanuts
- Nothing with preservatives
We tell ourselves all the time that we are strong and we can do it. And I bet you are also! Be strong for thirty days and try it and I bet after that time, you will continue as we did.
What you will need for this idea weight loss plan:
- Whole 30 Guide to Total Health and Food Freedom
- The Whole 30 Cookbook
- Spiral Notebook or a Food Planner
- Scales-yes you need to have a starting and an ending weight (no worries, that’s the only time you step on the scales)
“Nothing tastes as good as losing weight!” I decided to share what I have learned and how I lost 20lbs in 3 months. But sorry, no before or after pictures, I don’t have it in me to share those before pictures and yes, I am a little vain
Here is what started this weight loss journey:
I just woke up one morning and noticed that I had gained 30 pounds overnight. Isn’t that the way it happens, you kinda know things are getting out of control but you ignore it until one day, you really look in the mirror. And Woowser! After the initial shock wore off, I slunk away from the mirror then I begin my assault on this arch enemy.
I begin by compiling all the information I could glean from healthy eating to lose weight. My hubby, who is always on board, begin by putting together workout plans. We have always made a great team and it’s always easier to accomplish any goal with a team or a buddy.
We have decided that Whole 30 would work for us. It feels like we are giving up a lot but seriously it is so doable and we haven’t missed what is not on the menu.
We can even have a delicious baked potato with all the flavor of butter by using Ghee. Click here to get instructions on how to make Ghee.
Exercise is also how I lost weight:
So sorry to say there is not any miracle pill or miracle diet that you will be at that perfect size tomorrow. But 3 months will be here in 3 months so it’s your decision to either be at this same crossroads or nearer your goal in those same 3 months. Also, staying focused is how I lost weight.
All successful people who lose weight start with a plan and never lose focus on that objective for ideal weight loss.

We just took it one day at a time and supported each other. And now my hubby is down 20+ pounds and is now piling on the muscle. Yeah, guys are different, they are not happy watching the scale go down, they really want that muscle mass to go up.
We are just taking it one day at a time and doing what we need to do today. So we will be healthier tomorrow for ideal weight loss. And we feel great, remember nothing tastes better than losing weight. And this is how I lost 20 pounds in 3 months and how I am continuing to lose weight.
Congrats!!! It's hard work but it pays off in the long run.
Oooh la la mamasita! Woo hoo! You look great Evelyn. I stopped reading when I got up to the Baby Ruth bars. (I love those things and lucky they cost the earth over here otherwise I'd be eating them all the time.) I know what you say is all true and I'll get there too myself one day. You're inspiring me Evelyn. Keep up the great work!

You look fantastic! And what a motivational post. I needed that! You're the only other person I know who eats Pure Protein bars. 🙂 I have to have 20 g. protein 3 times a day or I crash. Just need to get on the wagon again. Thanks for the nudge!
way to go babe. wooohoo! you are right, just getting up and moving your body and watching what you eat. I am so lazy and bad at this, but the past few weeks I have been better.
It's funny how those of us who didn't make New Year's Resolutions or at least decide to eat better in the new year, are now seeing the results of all the people that DID! You look amazing, and I guess I should get up off my butt and go get on the torture devise/elliptical machine. Thanks for the motivation, Lisa@cookingwithcurls
These are great tips!
Thanks for joining the Blog Hop this week!
That's ah-mazing . I had made a "vow" eating less but eating healthy in new years resolution but I actually didn't do it properly . That's all so informative 🙂

You and hubs are the cutest things ever!
I found your blog on the Grab a Friend blog hop and just started following you on GFC. I am on a healthy journey too and I love your tips because I have found most of them to be spot on in my own journey. If you want to lose weight you need to make better food choices and get active. It takes hard work and commitment, but it is absolutely possible. Congratulations to you and your husband!

Congrats to both of you! You're doing awesome. I need to do more so thanks for the little push. 🙂 Drink tons of water, don't forget that! I think "diet" is a bad, 4 letter word for me…it reeks of deprivation in my little 2×2 brain. I have to focus on healthy eating and that seems to work better for me.
I applaud your discipline!!!
xo

Way to go! A true inspiration. Good for you!
CONGRATS! Keep up the good work.
Congratulations, now I thought you were on a liquid diet (hmmm). Kidding aside you did it the right way… nothing rash just eating right and exercising. Good for you!
Wow, you look great Evelyn! I went through that "I gained 30 pounds over night thing too". I began my eating right campaign two years ago. I slip once in awhile but have kept the weight off and continue to exercise. The exercise is really important.
I have tried your tequila chicken and white chicken chili and they were great.
Keep up the good work,
Bev
1 pound a week is so doable without starving – one smart sexy lady!

You got it! Good for you. (I just hate that over-night weight gain! ;-> )
I was consistent with my exercise for 7 weeks and kept my eating very healthy, but my weight didn't change. I'm mid-40's so I've made a visit to my doctor and am having my Thyroid checked. I just don't understand this slow metabolism! Can't wait to find out what's happening.
Glad to have found you through Sincerely, Paula's Wordless Wednesday

My husband and I have done the same thing! We dumped all processed foods and workout together. Its not a diet…Its a lifesyle change and we love it!
Congrats to you and your dh! I think the biggest thing is making a commitment to spend at least 20 min a day of exercise and drinking ample water!
Congratulations! Very good advice and meant to work for the long-term. Love that you advise people to eat, just change what they eat. Love it!
you look great Evelyn!!!!

Congrats!!! That is awesome! I'm so proud of you AND your husband!!!
I am having a hard time sticking to my plans. I was doing really good during the Summer. Our work had a team competition for racking up mileage and it really helped me get going. Then Winter came around and I just lost my drive.
It doesn't help that my fiance isn't quite on board yet. He's starting to come around, but is very into his soda and junk food. I'm not trying to convert him, but it would be nice if he was my partner in crime in this. I would love for us to eat better and have an exercise regime before we (as in me) start popping out kiddos.
Can't wait to see more of your tips and progress! Thanks for sharing with us!
I still can not believe how much you have changed ! Thanks for linking this, Evelyn, I hope lots of people follow your series because it is true – there are no pills or miracles to lose weight and maintain it, a healthy eating habit is the only solution !
You look amazing! It's so wonderful you work together as a team. I'll be having my twins soon and will be following you on your journey!! Thanks for sharing at the 6 Sister Party =)
Congratulations!
I have put on 17 pounds overnight {coughs} and reading this has inspired me to stop making excuses about not having enough time! Thank you! I'm now following your blog.
