- 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1 Egg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 cup Flour
- 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
Equipment Needed:
- Baking Sheets
- Mixing Bowls
- Mixer
- Cooling Rack
How to make these Candy Cane Cookies:
-
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
-
Prepare baking sheets using non-stick cooking spray or cover with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
-
Place candy canes in a zip lock bag and crush using a rolling pin
-
In a large bowl, mix butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, whip in vanilla and egg, scraping the sides of the bowl and mixing well
-
In a separate bowl stir flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda together, pour into the large bowl and mix carefully until well combined with the butter, sugar, egg mixture
-
Fold in the crushed candy cane and mix gently
-
Pour powdered sugar on a large plate. Scoop a heaping teaspoon of dough, form into a ball and roll in the powdered sugar, place on baking sheets
-
Repeat with remaining dough, placing dough balls far enough apart so they have plenty of room without melting into each other
-
Bake 10-12 minutes until bottoms just start to brown, remove from oven and let cool about 3 minutes prior to moving to a cooling rack.
But can you stop at just one? We doubt it, and that’s why we say – This recipe makes 8 servings, not 8 cookies! 👀 What’s your cookie count – Can you stop at one? Let us know!

No, this recipe makes 8 servings because we assume no one eats just one cookie.

Oh good question. I'm so sorry but I don't. I did google it and it says 3 canes is about ¼ cup but that doesn't sound like enough. Maybe add ¼ cup and then a little more.
