Yields: 12 chocolate truffles
Ingredients needed for this Whiskey Truffles Recipe:
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp high-quality cocoa powder
- ½ cup butter softened
- ¼ cup whiskey
- 1 ½ cups chocolate chips
- ¼ cup pecans
In a small bowl, use an electric mixer to beat together the sugar, cocoa powder, butter, and whiskey.
Once the ingredients are thoroughly combined, refrigerate for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, line one of your baking sheets with wax paper. After 30 minutes are up, remove from the fridge.
Scoop out portions of the batter with a spoon or a small cookie scoop and roll into 2 inch balls. Set them carefully on the wax paper-lined baking sheet. Place in the freezer and freeze for at least 10 minutes.
While the truffles are freezing, place pecans in a sandwich bag and use a rolling pin to break them into fine pieces. Place the chocolate chips in a small bowl and melt them in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval.
Remove whiskey truffles from the freezer and dip each one into the melted chocolate chips, using a fork to assure that each one is completely coated.
Place back onto the lined baking sheet and top with finely crushed pecans. Place back in the freezer for about 20 minutes and then they are ready to serve.
These Chocolate Whiskey Truffles will cure any chocolate craving and give you something to bite into for a quick treat. They aren’t baked so the whiskey will stay as alcohol within these delicious balls, so serving to adult guests or an adult event is most appropriate.
