Cinnamon French Toast Recipe

Make Cinnamon French Toast for breakfast or brunch.  We use a french toast batter with flour for better consistency.  Then we topped them with real maple syrup, strawberries and whipped cream for an extra special touch. 

 

We whipped up a homemade french toast with flour recipe that is easy enough for any day of the week.  But adding a few delicious toppings makes it special enough for any fancy brunch.

And you do not need cinnamon bread to make this cinnamon french toast, we added cinnamon to our french toast batter with flour.  So now you can have all the delicious flavor of cinnamon by using only plain slices of bread.  

 

 French Toast Batter with Flour Recipe:

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tablespoon white sugar, optional
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 Tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 slices bread
  • Butter, for cooking (as needed)
  • Real Maple Syrup, optional
  • Strawberries, optional
  • Whip Cream, optional

How to Make Cinnamon French Toast:

In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and milk.  Whisk until very well combined.

Add in all four of the eggs and beat well until the french toast batter is thoroughly combined.

Add your cinnamon and vanilla extract to your french toast batter and stir to combine.

Place a skillet or griddle over medium-low heat and add 1/2 Tablespoon butter.   Pour the french toast batter into a small casserole dish or Tupperware container for easy dipping.

Once the butter is melted in the skillet and it is hot, dip one slice of bread into the batter mixture, and flip covering both sides of the bread.

Remove the coated bread and allow the excess french toast batter to drip off then place it in the hot skillet.  If you use your cast iron skillet it cooks more evenly and  you can usually fit at least two slices in it.   And of course if you are using a griddle then your can make several cinnamon french toast slices at a time.

Cook for 2-3 minutes, until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes and remove from skillet.   Then repeat with all the other slices of bread.

This recipe make 6 servings of 2 slices each.  You can serve it with real maple syrup  and/or with strawberries, bananas and topped with whip cream for an extra special breakfast or brunch dish.
