If you haven’t tried a dirty diet coke then you are in for an indulgent treat. Coconut syrup, lime juice and half and half added to diet or regular coke is the bomb!!

This dirty diet coke is something I probable wouldn’t have ever tried in my younger days.  But these days, I am all in for trying new food, drinks and enjoying new fads.  This beverage was too different for me not to try and I am glad I was so brave and tried it.  Don’t let any doubts stop you from trying this fun beverage.

Dirty diet cokes are not really that new, they are been around for a number of years.  And now that I think of it, didn’t Laverne on Laverne and Shirley drink milk and Pepsi?  Ok, probable not a good example because that doesn’t sound great but I promise this, a dirty diet coke is sinfully delish.  Sweet and caffeinated and goes down super easy.   And if wish to go for the full monty then add a couple shots of rum!  

 

What is a Dirty Diet Coke:

I believe the best way to explain a dirty coke is to compare it to Italian sodas. To keep it simple a dirty diet coke is basically a caffeinated Italian soda.   Italian sodas are usually a combinations of different fruit syrups, half and half and club soda. But dirty cokes start with you guessed it caffeinated coke or diet coke.    I guess it could be flavored with different syrups but mainly they are only flavored with sweet lime juice, coconut syrup and the cream.   

A dirty Diet Coke tastes like a coke float with a hint of tropical flavor. The creaminess and flavor combination is reminiscent of a cocktail, just without any alcohol.  But you could absolutely add alcohol like rum which is also amazing.  This is a must try fun beverage this summer.  

 

Dirty Diet Coke Recipe and Instructions:

lime juice, coconut syrup, half and half and diet coke

 

Ingredients:

  • 12-ounce can Diet coke
  • 2 tablespoons coconut syrup
  • 1 tablespoon sweetened lime syrup
  • 2 tablespoons half and half
  • Ice
  • 1-2 ounces of rum, (optional, very very optional)

 

Equipment Needed:

  • Measuring Spoons
  • 2 Drinking Glasses

 

Instructions:

Fill 2 glasses full of ice and evenly divide the 12 ounce Diet Coke between the two glasses.

Add one tablespoon of coconut syrup to each glass of coke

 

adding lime juice

 

Add ½ tablespoon of sweetened lime syrup to each glass and stir lightly to mix.

Pour one tablespoon of the half and half (or more to taste) over the top of each glass.

Add sliced limes and a fun straw for garnish and serve this dirty diet coke immediately.   We hope you enjoy this very special but unusual treat.
