I was always under the impression that red velvet cakes or cupcakes was a Southern recipe, maybe because of the movie Steel Magnolias?  But actually red velvet cakes have been around since Victorian times but only during the 20th century was red food coloring used.  Rich cocoa created a ‘velvety” smooth soft texture during those early times and was served as treasured decadent dessert.   And during the Depression beet juice was used to obtain the red color but not sure how that would taste.  But the ingredient of cocoa was always a must.

Let’s go ahead and dive into the delightful world of Red Velvet Brownies.  They’re fudgy, creamy, and every chocolate lover’s dream! So why wait? Put on your baking hats and let’s create some sweet magic together!
