Peanut Butter jelly Thumbprint Cookies Recipe is one of our oldest recipes. We made pb&j cookies filled with strawberry jam for an all American treat.
My hubby can exist on peanut butter and jelly, I mean there are few days that go by that he doesn’t find a way to snack on peanut butter. He even puts peanut butter on his pancakes. And of course he loves to pair it with jelly or jam. So when I decided to bake a peanut butter cookie I had to make them pb&j cookies.

These peanut butter strawberry jam cookies turned out even better than I dreamed. All the great flavor of a great peanut butter cookie but with that add sweetness of strawberry jam.
Peanut Butter Jelly Cookie Recipe:
Ingredients:
- ½ cup butter
- ½ cup peanut butter
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 Tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ¾ cups all purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ⅓ cup strawberry jam (or the jam or jelly of your choice)
Equipment Needed:
- Sheet Pan
- Parchment paper
- Mixing Bowls
- Mixer
- Cooling rack
How to make peanut butter and jelly thumbprint cookies:
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 350° F. And line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt and soda and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl add the butter and peanut butter and gradually beat in the sugar and brown sugar until well combined.
- Add the egg and vanilla and mix well. Slowly add the flour mixture and continue to beat until everything is combined.
- Shape dough into 1 inch balls and place on the baking sheet. Using your finger or a spoon, press an indentation in the center of each cookie.
- Place in preheated oven and bake for 8 minutes and remove from oven, spoon a dab of jelly into each depressed center, mounding it slightly.
- Return cookies to oven and bake for 3-4 minutes until jelly is set. Remove these peanut butter jelly thumbprint cookies from oven and allow to cool on baking sheet for 2-3 minutes and place each cookie on a cooling rack.
We made these peanut butter strawberry jam cookies but you could use any of your favorite jelly or jam.

Lol .. Roy and I mostly have PB & J sandwiches when it's just the 2 of us home. Think I must teach him how to bake cookies and he can start with these ;-)
