Sugar Cookie Dough Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 cups butter, softened
Frosting Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup milk
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- pink food coloring
- Valentine Sprinkles
Equipment Needed:
- Mixing Bowl
- Dough Board
- Baking Sheet
How to make these Valentine Sugar Cookies from Scratch:
Start your Valentine meltaway cookies by mixing all the cookie sugar dough ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix well. The dough should be a little sticky. Turn it out on a floured dough board and work gently with hands.
Form the dough into a large ball and wrap in plastic wrap. Place in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
Remove dough from the fridge and form into 1 inch balls and place on a greased cookie sheet.
Gently flatten with a fork and bake for 15 minutes in a 350-degree oven or until bottom edges are lightly brown. Remove the sugar cookies from the oven and place on a cooling rack. Let completely cool while making the frosting.
Mix all the frosting ingredients in a medium mixing bowl. If the frosting is too thin add more powdered sugar if it’s too thick add more milk. Add pink food coloring until the coloring is too your liking.
After the cookies are cool and the icing is made, pour the valentine sprinkles in a small bowl or pinch cup.
Frost each cookie with the frosting and sprinkle with pretty Valentine Sprinkles!

Easy Meltaway Cookies with a powdered sugar frosting and sprinkles

- 1/4 cup butter softened
- 1/4 cup milk

- Add all ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Mix until combined. The dough will be a little sticky.
- Transfer dough onto a lightly floured surface or dough board and work gently with hands.
- Form into a large ball and wrap in plastic wrap. Place in refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Remove dough from fridge and Form dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a greased baking sheet.
- Gently flatten with a fork and bake for 15 minutes or until bottom edges are lightly brown.
Frosting Directions:
- Combine all ingredients in a medium mixing bowl. Add the amount of pink food coloring to your desired tint
- If frosting is too thin, add more powdered sugar. If it is too thick, add more milk.
